Dear all,

We have a new bathroom done and I wasn't sure whether the following was normal process. My understanding was that the cement board should be going to the floor and the shower base would be aligned to the cement board. I would greatly appreciate your input.

You are wrong. The tile backer comes down over the lip of the shower base. Your method would be sure to leak.
