My first time here. Hi.


I just had a new roof HVAC unit installed, and also replaced the air ducts. It has been over 2 weeks, and I still have lots of dust coming our of the vents. I replaced the intake filter, but that didn't help. Any solution to solving this issue?

Try taking a flexible vacuum hose and suck out as much as you can. Often the dust is mainly from cutting the holes to install the grille. There are outfits you can hire to clean the entire duct work system. I don't know what they typically charge.

It doesn't look like dust from cutting holes, more like fibers or hair, but I will try that.

Do you have return air ducts in a attic or crawlspace?

There could be a major leak pulling in dust.

Is your filter in the unit or return grill?

Looks like it’s pulling in debris. What you have in the photo shouldn’t be in new ductwork.
Since it’s new, the installer should be fixing the problem. What have they said?

Rooftop unit will most likely have a fresh air supply. Try closing the vent and see if that changes things.
