Its intended purpose was probably for the AC transformer for a fire alarm/security panel. A fire alarm panel requires a dedicated circuit so that it won't be shut off when working on other equipment.
Network Panel Single Outlet Security Only
The outlet next to my network panel has "security only" written on it. It's a single plug outlet (125v/15a). I haven't been able to find any information on why it's labeled security only and why it's only a single plug outlet.
I'd like to switch it out with a normal two plug outlet but I'm hesitant to do so without knowing why it's labeled security only. I would really appreciate any feedback on whether it is safe or not to switch the single outlet to a double outlet.
