Wifey saves lint and dryer sheets in a container by the dryer, and throws them out in the garden. You can see a group of birds at any given time pecking at it and hauling it off to their construction sites.

That dog must look like a gold mine to the birds.

Note, read an article last year about using hair and lint to treat birds and critters for ticks, flees, and other parasites. Treat the nest material and they are treated. I don't remember the insecticide but same as used it flee treatment for dogs.

Here's a link to the treated mouse material or bird nests.

Same treatment was suggested for any and all outdoor critters just need to be inventive with where to place it for birds.

I remember one suggestion for deer was to treat a rug type material where the deer would contact it when deeding from a feeder. We are not supposed to use deer feeders up here but some still do. Point is, anyway you can bring the animals into contact with the permethrin is good.

Here’s a palm leaf with fuzzy tomentum on it. One of my favorite palms, called the Teddy Bear palm.

The crown shot would be prettier in the sunshine; the red leaf bases are aflame in the light.
