I'm not sure if this is the right section for my topic, hope it is. I was hoping to get a little insight into my situation so I can have a better idea of what is going on when getting quotes. I am desperately trying to finish getting my basement and garage dry. Most of my problems have been fixed, but this one remains. If anybody can shed some light on this topic for me, I would appreciate the help. I have a baby in the house and can't have any water issues. thanks
My lower part of my driveway is not graded properly. It pushes water towards the garage/house and to a drain. There is a 3 inch high lip of concrete butted up again the garage door to keep water from going into the garage if the drain backs up. I would like to have the driveway at the same level as the lower car port portion of my driveway. It would be graded, with the highest point at the garage and lowest at the back of the driveway spilling into the grass. The driveway would have to drop about 8-10 inches for this to be possible.
What do you guys think it might cost to drop the lower car port section of the driveway and asphalt the entire driveway, including the uphill section?
Not sure of the measurements, but the lower car port section, can fit 6 cars tightly packed in a 3x3 line up. The upper section that is the entrance from the road is 10 feet wide and probably four car lengths.
This is something that I can not tackle, so I will be contracting out the work, but I wanted to get an idea of what it might cost.
How do paving costs work? And the other cost would be removing plenty of driveway surface to accomplish the grading.
Last year I did foundation water proofing, which has worked great. Now I just need to take care of the water that comes in the garage which, when it rains a huge amount, it gets into the basement through the garage. The drain in front of the garage just isn't enough in a big downpour. but the grading will do the trick for sure.
A contractor that passed by my house because he was in the area said he could do it for 7500, but it had to be next week for that price because he was doing a house in the area and he could give me a deal. He said otherwise is would cost 9000. I don't really trust things like that, so I will be calling a few more places on Monday. He gave me tons of references though and had all the paperwork in a binder all nice nice.
