ok here we go...i have a carport that i boxed in so i could have another room in my home...i have the washer and dryer on the other side of one of the walls and i want to cut into that wall and tap into the hot and cold water as well as the drain so i can add a sink in my added room...ok, i understand and know how to do the water part with no problem but my question is what is the best way to tap into the drain and install the p trap for the new sink?...first off there is about a 16" drop between the two rooms so i will be below the washer drain, and that is why i am asking about this before i start the task...my thoughts are just to find out what size the drain is and cut it and add a tee then tap in like that but does this sound ok or is there another way i should do this?? please help!

put the trap just below the sink drain ( at the sink) You may want to use a combination fitting Instead of a tee.. Depending on your situation

so it should not matter where i tap into the drain as long as i put the ptrap right under the sink? and what is a combination fitting?

and also with me tapping into the drain for the washer below the washer input into the drain will i have a problem when the washer dumps its water down the drain with it sucking the water out of ptrap on the sink and sewer gases coming back up into the sink drain lines?

Unless I'am missing something...
I don't see any problems as long as the plumbing is vented correctly... Only problem is if both are operating at the same time .. the washer drain may not be large enough...

i dont know if it matters but i have never had a problem with the washer draining...so would that mean it is vented correctly??? and by adding a sink to drain could this make it not vented correctly?
