Not strictly remodeling but don't know where on earth to put this as nothing quite fits!

We are building a house in Caribbean, the walls made completely of wood. As in we will be framing the wall, then attaching wooden siding to the outside. Nothing else. We are having a stone floor throughout.

BUT

What the heck do we do about the shower? Anyone have any ideas?

The complete shower stalls really are cost prohibitive here (small island and big import costs) and we're trying to keep costs down. Does anyone have any ideas?

What about stone walls? Run the floor material up the walls. Also, there may be water resistant wood available. Cedar and teak come to mind. If you use wood with adequate ventilation and light, it will probably hold up for several years, at least as long as it might take to get some tile over there. Also, if you create a larger space and direct the flow away from the walls (like with a shower head in the ceiling) that can help keep water off the walls. Good luck

I grew up in a home with a sheet linoleum shower enclosure; they used to slap it up, caulk the corners, good to go.

No material there should absorb water. Cheapest would be a sheet of vinyl bath curtain. I have found extra length curtains in amazon. Over spray and steam can get into wood siding and start mold and rot. Any wall material, even cheapest, should be sealed. That buys you time. Any temporary material should be replaced with other permanent, water shedding material.
Second defence is curtain rod and another layer of curtain. Curtain rod can be hand made with metal or plastic piping. It can be curved into a circle for complete enclosure. Use ceiling hanging rods or wall flanges.
Look around the area. Is there recycle center? Used glass sheets in sliders or doors (tempered glass) is one example, but most are thin and must be backed. Flexible plastic is not a good idea, although it may give an impression of permanence. They can break easily just by leaning on them. They also should get a backing. If you can find odd lots of tiles, they can be mixed with irregular joint.
