Need roof replaced

1472 Views 13 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  paulsmith544
Our insurance company gave us money to have our roof replaced from damages due to hurricane sandy. I honestly didn't think it was that bad but they obviously did.

Anyway - does anyone know any good roofers I can contact for estimates in the central Jersey area?

Not what this site is for.
Going to just have to make some local calls or just talk to some of the people near by that just had there's done to see how there's went.
You just might get a PM from one of our members----so this may not be a total waste of effort---

Any NJ members know a good roofer? PM this member---

Send Hren a private msg and make sure you dont hire the same roofer that shes currently dealing with.
You get my PM?
I did - thank you! I will contact him tomorrow. The house was built in 2000 so the roof isn't that old and the insurance said it can wait until summer if I desire - so I'm just looking for estimates and a starting point.

I know this isn't a DYI topic, but I really appreciate the links for tips looking for contractors. I usually try to do all my own work, but a roof is something I want to hire someone for. It's pretty steep and rather large. I was burned by a fence contractor (my first time hiring someone) and I don't want to fall into the same trap, I'm trying to find a good honest company to have the job done right and I figured you guys would be a good resource to help me in the right direction.

This is my first home and I'm only 27 - so it's easy to be taken advantage of. I'm very particular and like things to be done right and with the best quality.
There are plenty of honest roofers and other contractors---finding them is your challenge---

Length of time in business---referral from friends---easy to understand contracts are all good indications---

The roof business has a lot of 'storm chasers'---I suggest you find a local company that has served your community for a long time---
So your saying the guy that showed up with 6 people hanging off of an S10 short bed pickup, with there sign on the door of the truck done with electric tape, the quote was written on ring binder paper, and only one spoke english is not the one I should have hired?
But the price was so low:)

You forgot with shingle debris and loose felt blowing off the back of the truck as they went down the road, and so much weight in the back that it looked like a low rider. Oh yeah, and the skid kettle converted to wheels careening down the road with yellow smoke coming out.

But yeah, they were the low bidder, and they must know what they are doing because the "if you have a pulse, you have a license", manufacturer said they are qualified.
You may search the internet for a lists of roofing contractors in your area, just go to the one that gives their best to serve you, that will give you a new roof that will gonna last for years. See their website, look at the pictures, read the description of their services, plus it will be better if they included a page wherein their customers testimonial is posted.

Torch Down Roofing
Im very sorry about that response you got my friend. My work is more in the Industrial Commercial Market. Maybe try Angies List? Seems to work for most people. Another thing you could do is find out what type of shingle you want (Certainteed Landmark would be my choice) call their local rep and ask them for a good, small, residential contractor or three.
