Need help with Kitchen repair...back splash or no?

I have some textured drywall damage and I don't know what I should do to repair it.

I've tried using that texture wall spray and it helped, but the tears are still very noticeable.

I'm thinking of putting up a couple rows of white ceramic tile back splash to cover the hideousness of the tears. I have a couple outlets in the way and do not have any ceramic tile cutters.

Is this the way to go? What tile cutters/snipers do you recommend?

Is there another option here for me?

Thanks so much for any assistance!
