Hi everyone, '
Our contractor hung our interior doors and a friend commented that they were shimmed only on the hinge side, at each hinge. In their opinion, they should have corresponding shims on the latch side.
What is the conventional approach here? What would be the reason to shim only on the hinge side? If it were your house, would you have the other side shimmed? What does shimming on both sides provide, or protect against.
The trim isn't on yet, so we have a chance to change it.
Many thanks!
