I have two-inch to three-inch thick window trim/siding ( I think made of stucco) surrounding all my windows and it's preventing me from attaching Hurricane shutters like plywood or polycarbonate flush against the wall. How can I attach those type of shutters around or on the trim so that they work effectively? If it can't be done can the stucco trim be sanded down to become flat or removed without too much wall damage? I am so confused. Please Help.
You could also use 2-by-4's to frame around the trim
Then add plywood to that
Then screw that to the trim.
This can be done for windows and doors.
This way it's not a permanent solution and can be stored for later use.
Just mark the location of where they will go.
