Hi all. Trying to save some money and feeling quite capable of doing this, I replaced a bad motor on my outside AC unit (Tempstar). I was told to go ahead and change the capacitor and contactor, as well. I did so and even took pics before, so I'd get the wires correct. AC turns off and on and runs smoothly, BUT as it got cool last night, I turned the heat on (gas).....heard the thermostat click.......heard the gas light the flame, heat came on and ran up to temp.......heard thermostat click, to turn furnace off......fan still running.....still running.....now cooler air is coming from vents......I turn thermostat OFF......no change......have to go to breaker and switch it off, to get the fan on the furnace to shut off. Is this somehow related to my outside unit fan/cap/contactor replacement/wiring? Thank you all very much!!

Not related. Sounds like a tripped limit switch. Could be caused by dirty air filter, blocked vents, or dirty A/C coil.

Thank you. I just wanted to make sure that none of my contactor wiring had anything to do with the blower motor. I was starting to second guess everything. Coincidence I suppose.....fix one thing, then another goes crazy...:)

Just for knowledge sake.........when I turn the breaker off then back on, it shuts off the blower, as I was stating above. If it is the limit switch, does or would it reset by tripping the breaker? I'm just trying to get it through my head......if a limit switch is tripped, but I power off the breaker, wouldn't it start blowing again, when turning the breaker back on? Just trying to learn a bit....

Some brands/models won't start the blower with a tripped limit when the power is cycled off and then on. So it can still be a limit switch.
