Hi All,

I am replacing a rotted out front porch column and was hoping someone might be able to assist me in determining what these 1x4 decorative boards are called. It looks like the 4x4 post is encased in these trim boards.

I am normally pretty good about "Googling" my way to the correct product, but I don't know the name of this type of decorative trim with these semi-circles (in order to be able to buy more).

Any help is much appreciated!

Thank you,
Ian

fluted casing.

Your best bet is to buy 3 or 4 posts and store them inside to dry and use the straight one for you job after they have dried some.

Build the box around it big so it only touches the post on one or two sides. Then the post can expand and contract with out disturbing the trim wood.

Fluted-yes. Sometimes sold as door pilasters.
