Need help idendifying BRICK - Want to Paint it

Hello All,

Our house was built in the 70s and has the brick front shown in the photo. After initially researching the best way to paint exterior brick, we came to the conclusion that we should use mineral paint, aka silicate paint. But then it dawned on us that this brick may already be painted.

Can anyone identify what kind of brick this is, and the best approach for painting it? The attraction of the mineral paint is that it becomes part of the brick, allows moisture to escape, and will not bubble or peel. It's supposed to last for decades. But if this brick is already painted with something else, then perhaps we just need to use latex paint.

Thanks for your help!

I've painted brick that looks like that and we just used latex house paint [thinned the first coat] I'm not very familiar with mineral coatings.
Once you paint its permanent, there is no going back.

That's pretty much true of any paint you apply to modern day brick. Sandblasting will remove paint from brick but will often damage the brick in the process.
