I need help! I am so indecisive... We have a bathroom that we are remodeling. I was so excited to pull out our soaking tub and put in a new corner jacuzzi tub with jets that holds 2 people. (Kind of like a small hot tub in your bathroom!) Currently (we didn't realize it until we tore out some tile - it's a new house for us) we have a cast iron soaking tub. I really wanted jets so I could sit and relax, but after researching, I found out that cast iron is great for holding heat and well, soaking in. Now I don't know what to do! Keep the cast iron single person tub, or get rid of it for a 2 person corner drop in jacuzzi tub that is acrylic but comes with a heater?

If we get rid of the cast iron one, how much could we sell it for if someone comes and hauls themselves? It is beige in color and is in perfect condition except for some hard water stains that can be removed.

Thanks in advance for any advice and input you all may have!!

Umm do you want jets or dont you? Cast iron tubs arent as comfortable as a new tub with arm rests, jets, a heater, etc etc.

I would rip the thing out and put in a new tub. Then again I am not the type to keep old stuff that is in "style"

What kind of cast iron tub...claw foot?
Or just a normal cast iron tub that fits in an alcove ?
Our old tub was CI...very hard to get it hot enough for a nice bath
And it cooled off quickly

We put a jacuzzin in with a heater...wife hates it
She doesn't like cleaning the jets...
And with 2 hot tubs we don't use it as much
So in the next remodel the jacuzzi comes out...........

Cast iron tubs are heavy. If it's a claw foot you could sell it, if not take a sledge hammer to it and break it apart. Keep in mind the new corner tub will require a new drain set up, new supply lines and electrical. A separate shower will more than likely have to be installed also.

Thanks so far!

Thanks for the input so far. The tub is not claw foot. It is just a drop into an alcove.

Scuba_Dave - if we use the new jetted tub more often, how hard is it to clean the jets? My hubby wants to refinish the cast iron tub to white, I want the jacuzzi one.
