I'm planning on Remodeling my basement it's roughly 25x19.
I want to partition off the heater and make a large walkin closet and also a pantry. My problem comes in with the steel I Beam. How do I go about framing that out, Also I would like to ultimatley Drywall everything including the ceiling. But there are alot of wires and some plumbing in the way. Any way to drop down with lumber to clear it. As I really don't want a drop ceiling.

Any help would be appreciated.

cappy....welcome to the forum. You would be wise to enter your profile, as many of your questions will be regional in nature. Get a permit. Its for your own protection. For the beam you would build a soffit. If you search it on this site you'll find tons of info. Yes, you can do as you want to the ceiling but keep in mind minimum ceiling height. Also you cannot cover any electrical boxes or gas and water valves. Drop ceilings can be very attractive if done properly and access issues are of no concern.

Mikey....of course. Thats where most are in basement renos. If there's not enough headroom, several manufacturers including Armstrong now make a system that mounts directly to the joists. This way you can pick up another couple inches.

This isn't really a product that can be picked up at HD is it? Great idea! I hate putting these damn tiles in with only a couple inches of clearance. I assume they have created another method?

What you do to the ceiling really depends on two things. How low the framing is and how many obstacles are up there. Sometimes you can add framing to clear those obstacles and sometimes you move them.
What you would do is based on what you have there.
With all the wiring, if you add framing you would need to shield the wiring so you don't nail or screw through them.
