I have a grain mill with a 220v single phase motor. I'd like to use this in the USA where the standard voltage is 110v or 240v split phase. Since I need a 220v primary line, a neutral and ground (3 wire), what type of transformers I should be looking for. I bought a heavy duty transformer online but soon found out that that darn thing gives out only split phase 220v (i.e., two hot 110V). Thanks in advance.

the numbers 220 230 and 240 are all used interchangeably to refer to the same voltage. no transformer needed. split phase and single phase are the ~same thing

In the US, you would use the 2 hot legs and not the neutral and then the ground to get 240 single phase (used to be 220 years ago).

We toss in a center tap to get out 120 volt supply.
