We have a large area in our mulch bed that is next to a blank two-story wall. Previously, there was a magnolia tree there. It grew tall and wide, rubbing against the house in the wind against a bedroom wall. Several years ago it came down. Now, the blank white wall is looking bare to me again.

What are some good tall trees that would do well in this area? Thanks.

There are also some taller skinnier versions of the Arborvitae that might work, pyramidal or emerald, green giant might get too big?.
I'd plant a couple feet further away from the foundation than you think you need to.
If you want deciduous I don't know... cruise the nursery and see what they have.

Check with your city, county or university arborist. Many have nice guides for trees that will do well and that they would like to see planted to diversify the urban forest.

The library will have nice tree guides as well for your zone. There should be all kinds of selection criteria including shape, danger from invasive roots, evergreen/decidious etc.

Do remember to plant far enough away from the house and allow for eventual growth. You want to be able to get around the tree to maintain it. You want it far enough from the foundation roots will not be a threat. A good plan is to plant at least the adult radius of the crown from the house (half the published diameter).
