Hi all,

my 3 month old LG dishwasher is giving me some trouble.

After running for about 10 minutes, it starts beeping and stops.

There is an error code showing on the panel, and it apparently means that the filter needs to be cleaned or the air gap needs to be cleared.

I don't have an air gap thingy installed, and I checked that the filter is clean (new machine, and we always rinse the dishes)

We did have a power outage - could anything have gotten fried???

Anyone have any insights?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like there is a problem with your water supply...... your Hot stop valve fully open or any kink in hoses......???Just guessing

Or after 10 minutes, seems it may be a discharge block...I don't know if a dishwasher does some kind of pre-rinse.

I would guess the out hose perhaps - may have to remove it and check.

Air lock maybe?

If you can’t find anything obviously wrong at the connection to the plumbing system, put the discharge hose into a bucket, pour a couple of litres (or quarts, if you’re in America) into the bottom of the dishwasher, then start it. The first thing that the dishwasher will do on a cycle is pump out any existing water in the tub. If nothing comes into the bucket then you know that there is a blockage upstream somewhere. Take appropriate precautions against water coming out of the discharge hose with some velocity.

Chris, it's like you are reading my mind!

Yesterday I thought I should pull the hose off of the waste disposal and try to see it there was a blockage.

Then I though I would have to feed some water through, maybe into a bucket, to truly know.

Spooky!!!!

Thanks, that's the plan for today, and I appreciate your responses.

I'll report back.

Well, I pulled the hose off and it all seemed clear. Maybe a little build up around the edges, but nothing significant.

May I ask a question?

The water output - should it be like a washing machine, a strong jet?

I ran some water through, and it didn't come out with any force at all. Though it did come out.

If it's meant to be stronger, then perhaps a kink in the pipe (not sure how that would have happened) or a blockage. But surely anything big would have been caught by the filters.

Yes, the outflow should be strong, not quite as strong as a washing machine, but at a minimum like a garden hose (with no nozzle).

If not, the DW's water pump may be defective or impaired.

even though you rinse something may have got in the pump or clogged the pre pump filter. does the error come on every time? did it come on when you had the hose in a bucket? When the error comes on is there water in the bottom of the washer? it should pump out in 2 minutes or so.

I think you may be onto something here.

I put a new hose on the machine when I installed in late December. No reason to assume that it has suddenly kinked, or blocked, or collapsed in any way. Opening it all up will likely show that.

A month or so back, I walked into the kitchen at the start of the day, and the machine was making quite a noise. Additionally, the control panel was going haywire.

Here's a video - the volume will likely need to be turned up to hear what's going on.

I think it's the machine, and not the hose.

Hi,

I'm thinking it's a machine fault - posted a video of a recent issue.

Here's my experience with the exact same model. About 6 months old had the same code. The company came out and told me there was a a problem with the pump which was under warranty. They explained to me that there was a recall on the dishwasher for several issues. They ordered the parts and basically rebuilt the machine and charged me $70.00 for labor. This is a local appliance company, very impressive. That's why I shop local. Bought a whole kitchen worth of appliances from Lowe's and han issues with every appliance. Took a letter from my brother, who is an attorney, to get any response. Maytag is junk and good luck getting service from a big box store. Your dishwasher should be under warranty.

Hi,

somehow I missed your message, months ago.

After a year and a week, LG finally agreed to send my almost $800 to me. I have to get a complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau Better there was positive action.

Previous to that, three tech guys came over a few months and changed parts, and still it failed to operate more than a few cycles.

I also see it's unavailable on the LG site. Must have been dumped.

Thanks!
