I walked through the isles over and over in the paint section and couldn't find any oil paints - only oil primers. I live in california, is this a state thing? or do other homedepots in other places not sell oil paints too?

I was gonna ask the paint lady why this was but she kinda busy. If it's a state thing then I guess i'll have to settle for acrylic latex, water and some floetrol for my wooden door. correct?

Depends on where you live. Only CA does not allow oil paint. But buying paint at Home Depot is a waste of money. Worst paint in the world. Read threads on Behr paint. Go to a paint store and stick with Benjamin Moore paints. For exterior wood you are better with Latex anyway. Latex has large resins which will allow moisture in the wood to move out through the paint film. Oil uses finer resins which will make a tighter film. So when the water moves out it will bubble and chip the paint. Oil primers are still used to seal the wood.
