The house was built in 1957 and we've done a lot to it over the past 10 years.
The latest project was the master bath. It had been painted in a blue "bedliner" scheme and featured a blue steel tub, blue sink and blue toilet with gray ceramic tile (applied directly to the sheetrock) on the tub surround and on the counter top, and gray asbestos tiles on the floor covered with gray Linoleum.
There had been some water damage behind the tile around the tub and to the floor under the toilet, so I stripped the room down to the studs and subfloor.
I rebuilt the subfloor around the toilet, adding bracing there and under the shower.
Replaced rotted studs behind the bath.
Moved the toilet a few inches to the left.
Replaced cast and asbestos cement sewer pipes with plastic.
Replaced the galvanized water supply pipes with copper and rerouted them.
Moved the electrical around and added a separate switch for the light over the sink.
Replaced the 5-foot tub with a 3x4-foot shower, using a Kohler Purist cast iron base with white 4"x4" matte-finish tile
Added an extra foot to the new vanity with Kohler sink and American Standard faucet. The vanity is full kitchen depth and height.
American Standard "comfort height" oval toilet.
Put glass blocks in the wall between the shower and the vanity to admit light from the window (which is to the right of the sink).
Finished the floor with light-colored Konecto tiles.
Painted with Behr Polar Bear White semi-gloss.
The shower door is from a local glass shop and is 76" high.
It's a simple bath and not too big, but it's very light and we enjoy it a lot. The blue of the coutertop doesn't show up well in this pic. It's Wilsonart Deepstar Flint laminate. That and the oak vanity provide the color.
