Carpet cleaning: Chem-Dry or Steam?
Just about to move into a house we bought in northern California. My wife would like to have the carpets cleaned before we move in furniture. The carpets appear reasonably clean except for stains in a couple of rooms.
The price quotes we are receiving vary much between $350-$485 for a 5 bedroom home that according to one written estimate has about 2,000 square feet to clean with 14 stair steps.
What cleaning method should we use, Chem-Dry or 'Steam cleaning'? How do I identify reputable companies in a town I have just moved in and don't know many people to get an opinion? Are there any big national franchises that would have consistent service quality (like I know what I will almost get at any McDonald's)?
