I have a 5-1/2" square x 7' long timber I would like to mount to this stone fireplace wall. It's a 1928 brick house and I believe the stone is covering up the original brick fireplace. I do not know where studs are or what is behind the stone. I want the timber to float over the uneven stone surface. Any ideas how to go about this? Thanks

Wherever your timber touches the stone use P L CONSTRUCTION ADHESIVE.

Get help holding the timber up to the stones, mark where it touches the stones, then lay it down and apply adhesive to these places only.

Place the timber back in place.

Support the timber for a day or two with proper pressure and lift underneath.

Clean up any excess squeeze-out while it is uncured.

remove your holding devices, ENJOY
