I am trying to mount a tv mount to metal studs. The wall looks to be double layered 1/2" drywall and the studs are 1 5/8". The snap toggles I purchased have toggles that are 2" long so there is not enough clearance with the stud size for the to be fully inserted.

My question: Is there a toggle bolt with a small enough toggle for me to use with 1 5/8" studs or can I look at using an ez anchor set up as long as I'm anchoring them into the stud?

If not, what other suggestions do people have? Mounting plywood to two studs or installing blocking is out of the question.

Thanks in advance

In the past I have just used standard toggles, usually 1/4" × 3", but you could probably get away with 2" screws, and drilled the center of the stud and, if necessary, cut the end after the wings to fit the depth. Depending on the construction, you may also be able to drill all the way through the wall, on to the other side and install a piece of threaded rod with nylon lock nuts and washers on both sides.
