Have an existing poured concrete patio sitting on a sand base (its at the beach). Want to mount a pole to hold up a patio sail to reduce sunlight. This pole will likely have some good wind shear load. Am I better drilling a hole in the concrete the diameter of the pole and inserting or bolting the pole to the ground through a anchor plate. (4 or 5 bolts). Appreciate the help. Would also consider removing the concrete and putting a bed to soften the area (anchor the pole in the sand) but that brings its own issues.
