Hello all,

Is it possible to have two separate motion sensing lights monitoring at different sides of the house turn both on at the same time when any one of them senses motion?

If so how can it be done? Motion sensing lights have three wires coming out of them.

Any help would be great thanks!

Check code first, but you could assuming you are able to run a new wire in between them and that they are on the same circuit. The 3 wires in the sensor is your line, netural and the load (to the lights). If you were to put a new 14/3 or (14/2 and just use the black) and marrett it unto the load wire at each light it will work.

Light "A" sense's motion. Power is coming into the sensor and going out the sensor load wire to light A and light B. and Vise versa. Along as they are on the same breaker you will be good. If not the same breaker you would need to make sure they are both on the same service line so when the second motion sensor detects motion and opens the circuit you don't have a 240V clash.

Hope that makes sense.

Opps. forgot to mention, if you can pull a new 14/3 into the lights than you would then use the black and white to feed the second sensor and use the red as a traveller/switch-leg marretted to each of the load wires off the sensors. Allowing you to get rid of the 14/2 ran between them.

Thanks Mcdonald for your advice.

So with your setup i'm assuming that both lights will sensing separately from each other however when one picks up motion both will turn on be be on until the one that sensed the motion turns off via the timer. Then both lights will be off correct?

it could be wired fairly easily but you wouldn't be able to exceed the maximum wattage of 1 light for all lights combined, unless you wired in a relay or a contactor
