We are redoing our small bathroom and would like to create a chair rail made from mosaics, only I have no idea how to adhere them to the wall and if they should be glued to something first and then put on the wall.

Any advice?

The two most commons ways of adhering tile to walls is thinset mortar and mastic adhesives. Outside of a shower, both work well. Inside a shower, I only recommend thinset.

Use modified thinset and tap the pieces to the wall until they set overnight.
