Trying to cut 1.75” mosaic tile with Kobalt manual tile cutter. It appears that I am getting a good score, but when I snap the edges don’t break evenly (they are curved). Any suggestions?

Thanks, but I am assuming you mean wet saw?
If so, I am trying to avoid that and use the manual cutter. I have seen them cut clean n some videos, but I am assuming my technique is not quite correct. Maybe I need to
1) try to score the edges a little bit more to get a clean break
2) put a stick or something under the snapper to help distribute the downward pressure more
3) just live with it because cutting any tile this small will lead to these results unless you are scoring exacting down the center.

First … you need to cut each tile individually. Score the glaze carefully, and trim to size with tile nippers. Or buy a cheap wet saw.

Wow, I didn't even know it was possible to cut little mosaics with a tile cutter. I have a $400 tile cutter and I never even would have tried.

He’s going to respond that the +/-$75 saw is too expensive … which will look cheap when he has wasted half a box of tile trying to snap it. Never mind the lost time.

Get a wet/dry diamond blade for you circular saw or your right angle grinder. (Harbor Freight has "nearly" disposable right angle grinders and diamond blades.)
Lay the mosaic section face up between two boards and clamp the tiles firmly between the boards.
Run the saw along the wood as a guide.
Wet cutting would work best - a helper with a squirt/spray bottle would do the job nicely - try not to get too much water into your tool.

You responded to me in post #3 that you are trying to avoid a wet saw. How did i anticipate your response? Experience. You came here with a problem and asked for advice. Good start, we all need help sometimes. But then 2 people suggested very similar solutions, and you get pissy. Ok, fine, learn the hard way.

Unless you and Huesman are the same person, I did not respond back to you in post 3. Your post came after that. You suggested a wet saw and another suggested a wet saw. I didn’t say anything after that. Then you all of a sudden can read minds and insult me by saying what I was going to say next. When in reality I was going to say that while my initial inclination was not to use a wet saw, there are 3 people recommending that I do use one. Maybe I should think about now.
So please excuse (or don’t) my pissiness when someone pretends to know what I am thinking just because they have more experience than I.

Fine, you win, you’re right. You responded to the forum that you didn’t want a saw, not to me directly. But if your skin is that thin, go post your questions on tiktok.

I'll have to agree with Jeff, in that I have never seen a snapping tool that would cut small mosaics. I, too would recommend you getting an inexpensive wet table saw and make your cuts individually. The results will be much more to your liking.

Wet tile saw, doesn't have to be big and expensive. I admit having bought one from HF to help a family member while on the road.
Forget blades for circular saw or even an angle grinder ... what recipe for injury and disaster that is!
Gently easing one mosaic little tile at a time towards a purpose built stationary wet cutting device that runs at 3-5k rpm ... vs projectile launching 10k-30k rpm???
That you have to clamp hap hazardly, no wet cutting, ...

Thank you all for the assist. I went to HF and got a $65 wet saw and diamond blade. Plan on using it tomorrow and getting better results (will post pics).

You need to use a wet tile saw. Dry cutting may break the tiles due to heat. Then sell the saw when you are done.

It is very hard to cut small mosaic tiles with a tile break. Cut them one at a time and be prepared to ruin a couple for every one that cuts correctly.
