if that is a "builders model" the compressor is more than likely out of warranty. Call the number in the link I posted and they should be able to tell you the deal. Have the model and serial of the condensing unit handy.

You're right, it is expired. The unit is only 6 1/2 years old and they will not "help" me a little bit.. I will send a letter to the builder (Standard Pacific) and other builders around here letting them know about Carriers customer service.

That compressor failed due to improper installation, more than likely. If you have it replaced, be sure your contractor tells you why it failed and that they take steps to insure it won't happen again.

Why are you blaming carrier's customer service? If the warranty is expired, then its expired!

Like others have said...who installed it?

Did you have annual maintenance on it?

All brands have the same 5 year compressor warranty on their builder grade units.

Builder grade is basically bottom of the barrel. Perhaps your letter to builders should be thanking them for requiring the cheapest model line be installed.

Next, you need a company that will find out why it died so soon.
