mixing paint

3706 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Matthewt1970
I painted a room with a blue latex, semi gloss. The blue came out a little too dark and a little too shiney. I have a 1/2 gallon of flat white, same brand. If I mix it with the 1/2 gallon of blue semi gloss that I have left will it work OK? Can I just paint over the semi gloss on the wall, or will the mix not stick well?

Thanks for comments!

You can mix them with no problems. Even better that it's the same brand. Start adding just a little of the white to the blue at a time. You will be surprised how a little bit of white will lighten up the blue. Just make sure you mix it well. When you think you have mixed it enough, you are about 1/3rd of the way there. Remember, you aren't just mixing two colors, you are mixing two sheens (Shines)
Sanding at this point will ony risk damaging your first coat untill it has cured.
