I am wanting to take 5 feet off the back of my one car garage to make a small sun room and laundry room and so I can walk out to the back yard, without going through the garage. My garage is currently 22 ft deep and if I take off 5 feet, plus the wall, it leaves me with a little over 16 ft deep. I can still park my car in there, but was wondering if there is some code somewhere that a garage has to be a certain size otherwise it isn't considered a garage. I don't want to add a room to my house and lose what would be a garage, according to an appraiser. Anyone know?

My garage is 24x36, so yours is already to small for me :laughing:
As far as I know there isn't any min size, except in the eyes of the buyer. The smaller it is, the less appealing it is to buyers
My truck would not fit in your garage minus the 5'

no code that I know of and if youre not planning on moving then make it as small as you want BUT . . .

when you sell it, it will be a good place for lawnmowers. not everyone drives a smart car or vw bug.
