Ok, HVAC guys. What do you think would be the cost for a quad zone final hookup and test? Do you think a local guy would do it for a few hundred bucks? It seems like the units I have been looking at are precharged, so I'm guessing they would just have to make the lineset connections, vacuum the lines, and test the system. I don't know that much about HVAC so am I way off here?

I recently charged a friend 150 bucks to to do his connections on a Fitjusu mini.
He lives less then 10 minutes from me.
4 flares, vacuum, open valves and check charge.

He does good cable work. :)

Baltimore is outside my drive range.

Gotcha. I was figuring somewhere around 4-5 hundred. Four lineset connections(16 flares), vacuum, and checking everything. Did he use the pre-flared linesets, or did you make your own? The premade ones seems expenisve (100-150) each. I didn't know if a pro could make them up cheaper. Plus, they would be the exact length instead of having to chose between 15,25, or 50 ft. I guess this is totally out of question for a DIY'er?

I made the flares.
My flaring tool is a bit better then what you'll find in HD or hardware stores. Si I like to make them, so that I know they are good and won't leak.

I gave him a 100 dollar discount.

You''ll have to see what someone in your area will charge.

I wish. He would have been a very cheap date. If I get the whole system installed for around 6K I'll be happy. It looks like the Mits. quad zone system is running around 4300 delivered. 700-900 for the linesets, covers, and control wires, 200-300 for misc. parts, and approx 500 for the HVAC labor.
