I am putting in a built in electic fireplace (39" wide one) and we are going to do a granite facing, with that comes a 1ft wide by 66" long granite hearth...

The floor is a granite slab, do you still need to put a micore board under this, or can granite be placed right onto concrete with no problems?

Right on the concrete is the way to go.
that's what my original plan was until I got the instructions with the granite facing kit and it says "use micore board on concrete slab to stabalize granite hearth" how much more stable then concrete can you get? I was thinking this is a misprint and that should of been for a wood subfloor?
