I had to scratch my head for a bit, but I think I understand the question. You are referring to the rigid side of the metal stud as opposed to the some what floppy open side of the stud? The question still is kinda silly though. You install the drywall the same way you would a wood stud. Then again maybe I am completely misunderstanding the question.

Sheetrock is applied to the narrow face of the stud, not to the wide face.
