Hello All,
I am replacing my existing remodeling windows with new construction windows because the remodeling windows are leaking.
Can I measure side to side at the drywall and add 1 inch for the rough opening? Same process top to bottom except under the window sill?

Since you are replacing them, rip off the casing and get a real measurement. You have to remove casings anyway and you can avoid surprises.

You’re right, thanks getting me back in line
Won’t you have to remove some of the exterior siding to properly flash them?
I will but I need siding anyway and I also need to repair all the bad drywall because the replacement windows leaked. The previous owner didn’t live here long enough after having the windows replaced to enjoy all of this mess.

Please post some picture of what your seeing, inside and out.
Replacement windows never should have leaked if there installed correctly.
Trying to install new constrution windows is just going to be a whole lot more work.
