We just bought a house and it came with the appliances. It has a Maytag washer (unsure of the model, I could look it up if it's important). No matter what the temp setting is, the water is hot. I unhooked the cold line and there is water pressure there. When it's on in any temp setting, I can turn the cold water off with no change in fill pressure. However, if I turn the hot water off, it stops filling.
make sure the hot and cold hoses are connected right at the washer ( hot hose to hot, cold hose to cold) if that is correct then you will need to replace the water valve.
