Hello, I'm Vonrick33, New here. Here's the problem. I have a electrical dryer that stopped working. I noticed the plug had a burnt spot on it so I change the cord. That didn't work, so I changed out the receptacle, that didn't work, so I changed out the breaker in the box, and that didn't work. I rolled the dryer down the street to a neighbor's house and it worked, so there's nothing wrong with the dryer. Before that, I bought a new dryer and it didn't work, so I returned it. Now, I called two electricians to check the box and they said, " I have 240 coming from the box to the receptacle, then to the dryer', but the dryer won't start or say anything. What could the problem be? Do I need the have the house rewired for the dryer again? Please somebody help !! Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks:surprise:

4 prong plug? Did you check the neutral connection in the breaker box?

At the dryer, the neutral wire from the cord is screwed the middle position in the back of the dryer. I'm getting 120v from each leg to ground, then 240v across each leg. ( L1 and L2 )

Above my pay grade, :biggrin2:Do you have the jumper from that neutral to the body if the dryer?

While that jumper is required with a 3 wire dryer connection,, it will work with or without it.

Some thing is not adding up.
Electrician says the receptacle has voltage.
The dryer works at your friends house.
It should work.

You need to measure the voltage at the receptacle WHILE THE DRYER IS PLUGGED IN AND TURNED ON.
