I have a small inexpensive hand pump for transferring oil. Has main barrel of brass and a plunger for lifting the oil into the bottom with a discharge at the top of the barrel. I've used it for about 6 years - no problem, but now can't get it to lift. I can readily buy another but the parts on this are so simple I'm stymied as to why it's now not working. I tried priming to seal the plunger piston with a bit of oil but still no suction. I have it in the grass mowers section since I use it to extract the oil from the reservoir/crankcase of my ride-on since the drain out plug is poorly located and the oil spills over chassis and wiring.
