Madison bars, Extenders or.....? (pics)

I am mounting boxes where I have to account for 1-1/4" granite. As you can see form the pictures, the madison bar tabs are not long enough. In tis case, would you use extenders? For what its worth, I can access the box from the back from inside cabinets. This box is going on the 6" raised portion of my bar hight countertop.

I would use 4 inch square boxes with device rings or the adjustable type boxes. If you go with the device rings you'll need to go to an electrical supply house as the big box stores usually only carry up to 3/4".

Excuse me for my lack of knowledge but from what I understand, I need a 1-1/4" 2 gang mud ring and a 4 inch square box with a device ring.

These.....

4" Square 1-1/4" Raised Two Gang Device Ring

As for 4” box with device rings… I have two single boxes I connected to make a double. Would this work? These boxes are the deeper.

EDIT: I can see that these are probably not compatible...

Thank you for the clarification. Just want to confirm... will the 4" square box face be flush with the cabinet and the 1-1/2" mud ring bring me out to the granite face?

Put the 4 square flush with the face of the cabinet, or set back a hair. Just make sure it is not set past flush.

Mud ring attaches to box, and granite goes overtop of that with the appropriate cutout. After that, it's just like working with a regular box. Your devices attach to the mud ring, and plate attached to devices.

I am not a fan of using remodel type mounting in this situation, especially if you intend to use that outlet regularly. No matter how secure it seems when you get it in, it will work loose over time.

Ones I have seen the box is flush with the wall. Granite guys got the opening for the switch or outlet and then install the switch or outlet with long screws that pass through granite and screw into box behind granite. Basically making the granite thickness the box extension.

The box is only allowed a setback of 1/4" in a non combustible surface. That install does not meet the code.

Yeah, I get that a lot. The tabs on your gang able box can be flipped so your box sticks out from your backer board. It'll only go out about 3/4" so you'll still need a goof ring (which is the plastic thing you showed in your second pic). That 3/4" of extension from the backer board should give a good enough measurement for whomever is cutting the granite. I used more words this time if it doesn't make sense, sorry
