I`m in the process of remodeling our 1950`s house. We discovered hardwood floors under a vinyl ,on luan, over hardwood. Is it possible to save the hardwood? We are hoping to remove the vinyl and luan have the hardwood refinished .What do you think.

Probably. You have to hope that they didn't cover it because there was something wrong with it.

If they installed it correctly there's no way you can.
Reason being there would be fastners every 4" on the edges and 6 to 8" in the field.
Only one way to fin out.
PS Luan is no longer an exceptable subflooring for vinyl.
