Looking to lower this wall vent near the floor in order to install a toe kick vent underneath the vanity going there. What's the correct way to do this?

My thought was to bend in the vent tabs currently sticking into the bathroom, use some sealant + piece of sheet metal to close current opening, use tin snips to cut out new opening lower. Then install the toe kick venting.

That will work. I would add a flange on the new opening to extend through the wall finish.

I'd go in the basement and disconnect it from the duct. Then cut it shorter to the length needed, and reinstall it.

That works, too.

I agree that's the cleaner install and probably easier to modify that duct when it's NOT inside of the wall, but where this vent rises vertically is not well accessible in the basement. It's partially blocked by a basement partition wall and then the other half is covered by drywall. Thanks for suggestion though!

Since you have the wall open, replace those galvanized supply and drains.

Definitely a good suggestion, and already complete :biggrin2:

The one posted for the vents was somewhat old, but the first picture I found that showed the vents without any drywall up. This clogged drain line was actually what started the whole remodel. We had planned to eventually, but when the snake wouldn't go through this junk, decided it was time to start haha.
