Low voltage wires

609 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  joed
Hello,

I will start by admitting that I am an electrically challenged person! lol

I recently purchased a condo and I am prepping for paint.
I have several land line phone jacks in walls that I would like to remove and patch over. Can I just cut these wires and bury in the wall, or is that a potential fire hazard?

I also have an old alarm system that has similar wiring to a motion detector that I would like to do the same thing with.

One other related question. Can I bury a cable TV wire in the wall? There is no voltage in these, correct?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Frank

Thanks,

There is no fire hazard. You still should just cut an bury them. You should disconnect them at the source. Then you can cut and abandon them in the wall. Never leave an active wire in a wall.
