loud washer knocking/banging noise during spin cycle
hello
as the title says, we hear a very loud knock/rattle during the spin cycle, and we turn the washer off in fear of damaging more.
If I spin the drum by hand in either direction, I hear a loud squealing noise.
What can I do/check? My dryer is stacked on top of the washer, so casual checking of things might be difficult. If I bring the dryer down, it will have to be to make the final repair, as I am limited in space in the garage.
It is a Kenmore, model 417.44102300 front load HE washer from 2004.
