I'm trying to help my sis in law with her A/C.
The compressor makes a very loud noise when it's turned on. The system is not cooling the home at all. It's about a 30 year old condensor.
Any tips on where to start or likely suspects?

Compressor may be seized up or capacitor for it is weak. Need a electrical tester meter that checks capacitance or a Pro to check it.

This noise can be the fan bearing.
