I was covering a wall of an area of 3‘ x 2‘ behind my kitchen sink the outlets worked prior to me covering them after I finish my project and put the outlet covers back on the outlets did not work matter affect the whole wire was dead I made sure that I did not mail any finishing nails into any wires they went directly into the wall stud what could’ve happened no breaker was blown no GFI was tripped?

How long were the finishing nails that you used? How thick was the new covering that you put on and how thick was the existing wall covering?
