i never installed vinyl fence so my question is. when installing vinyl fence do i have to remove the existing 4x4 fence posts or are they modified in anyway to accept vinyl fence?

Probably depends on what manufacturer's system you use. I installed a vinyl fence around the backyard about 16-17 years ago. It did not use wooden posts. It used hollow vinyl posts. I drilled all the holes after carefully marking them out with a bobcat and a post hole digger. I ran a string line and put each post in with four ropes and tent stakes atomhold them in place. I filled the holes with concrete after that. It has held up well, but the only thing I would do different is not use as much concrete and keep it below grade. I've had about 5-6 posts creep up some from frost heave.

Ayuh,.... If yer Lucky, the posts are where they need to be for the new fence,.....
If so, there's vinyl covers that slip down over the wood to hide it,.....
