I had vertical steel siding installed about a year ago. The house is a work in progress, and I haven't got around to trimming out the windows yet so any water that leaks in is obvious.

Last night it was raining and I heard a dripping sound in the bedroom. I found water leaking in at the top of the window.

I am not happy about this at all and plan to contact the contractor to fix it. My question is - What should I expect them to do about it? I am looking for advice so I can know what a reasonable fix to ask for is. At the moment i think they should have to tear off all the siding in the area and install new tyvek and better flashing, but maybe that is asking to much. TIA

A short video of the leak. It dripped on and off for 5-6 hours thru the night.

Show them the video and if they are a reasonable company, they will make it right. If that's the only one leaking, they may have simply forgot or not sealed it right from the outside on that one.

Water leaking anywhere above, will show up at the windows, with the newest window installation instructions water would have a path to the outside.

Is there a flashing above the window, did they do a house wrap, where the window new or re installed at the time?

I installed new construction windows a couple of years prior to the siding job. I flashed them per the Andersen series 100 instruction manual.

When they did the new siding, they removed the old tyvek. As far as i can tell, the new tyvek was attached to the old flashing tape on the windows with tyvek tape.

Not sure what they did as far as the flashing above the window.

You would be able to see flashing above the window, I am not talking about tape.

I don't see your drip edge? I would question how they dealt with that rib above the window, was that tucked behind the wrap on the high side?
I've been trying to find some pictures the contractor left for the building inspector to see how the wrap was dealt with around the rib. No luck so far.

I think i recall both sides being on top of the wrap, but I'm not confident in my memories of it since i wasn't around for much of the install.

Did they remove your drip edge?
I would be calling them for an explanation.
Is that the only place that has that rib?

Had to get a better picture to see the drip edge, but it's there.

Those panels are 10ft long, so there are several ribs around the house since it's a 2 story walkout.
