This is very close to where I live. The total fine is over half million dollars.

Licensed Electrical Contractor installed an in-floor heating system without filing an application for inspection.
An elderly gentleman fell on the floor in the bathroom, where the in-floor heating system was installed, and suffered second and third degree burns from the over-heated floor and succumbed to his injuries.
The floor system’s heat sensor had not been installed and the heating system was wired to an incorrect voltage.

If this is the licencing board, declaring bankruptcy and walking away might get him away from paying. But, will he ever hold a contractors license again if he does ?

In areas where the electricians liscense is under the same jurisdiction as the contractors liscense, he might also lose his electricians liscense as well.

Lose of license(s) would cost him far more than the fines.

One reason why many pros stay far away from sites like this.
Litigation can come in many forms and bad advice can be detrimental to the person getting the advice and the person giving the advice.
Regardless of disclaimers.
