Load Bearing removal: hidden beam or exposed?
in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPSyePA6j0U , the support beam extends below the ceiling. I've seen others cut the ceiling joists and slip up a beam with brackets to hide the beam in ceiling.
Seems to me like the latter is more difficult and more aesthetically pleasing, while the first is much easier to do.
What are you opinions? As far as support, Is one better than the other?
