I live in ON, Canada and have built a garage with a 34" man-door and a 46" window, for which I used 2 2x6s laminated together as headers for each. It passed the framing inspection by the town, but a local home inspector is telling me I should have used 2x8s. I have checked the building code, but the table it refers to is confusing to say the least. From what I gather, it says I can go as far as 9'2" with 2x6s. Can anyone shed some light on this? What dimension lumber is required for these spans? Thanks.
